The mandalasoriginal: "maṇḍalo" — Sacred geometric diagrams used as a "seat" for deities during ritual worship. are to be established, all facing the practitioner. They should be auspiciously drawn on cloth using their respective colors or with fragrant pastes. 81.
The Sun original: "āditya" and Mars original: "aṅgāraka" are [saffron-red]; Venus original: "śukra" and the Moon original: "niśākara" are [white]. Mercury original: "budha" is yellow, Jupiter original: "guru" is white, and those known as the [other] planets are black. 82.
The shapes of the mandalas, in order, are: circular, square, triangular, arrow-shaped, oblong, pentagonal, bow-shaped, winnowing-fan-shaped, and banner-shaped.
If [the measurements] are deficient, it leads to injury and disease; likewise, if they are in excess, it leads to grief. 83.
Through correct measurements, success is achieved; therefore, one must draw according to the [prescribed] measurement. Eleven finger-breadthsoriginal: "aṅgula" indeed [is the measure], and for the circular one, six and two-parts. 84.
For the Sun and the other [deities], the sequence of measurements is ten and a half finger-breadths. Venus and Mars face [the practitioner]; Jupiter and Mercury face North. 85.
