The Combined Procedure for the Pacification of Ganesha and the Planets
original: Vinayaka-shanti Graha-shanti karmano-tantraikate prayogah; this indicates that the two normally separate rituals are being performed as a single unified system, or "tantra."
In this ritual for the pacification of Ganesha original: Vinayaka-shanti, [the patron says:] "To the Teacher, the embodiment of the Vedas, this guest-offering," and so on. By this same procedure, [he speaks] to those who recite the blessings, the priest ya.
During the appointment, [he says:] "Today," and so on, for the sake of removing the afflictions caused by Ganesha, for the sake of pacifying the defects born of the planets, for the purpose of the aforementioned Pacification of the Nine Planets, for the averting of all calamities, for the fulfillment of all desires, and for the completion [of the rite] without obstacles—"I shall perform the appointment of the priests." [To the priest] of such-and-such lineage 16 and so on.
"Desiring all prosperity, in this Pacification of Ganesha, I provide a pair of garments, gold, and sacrificial fees original: dakshina; the honorarium given to priests through worship of the deities established in the previously mentioned cooked offering. There, may you be my Teacher..."
...Having uttered the procedure of the speech. Since the ritual is a single system, the appointment of all occurs together. Having performed the entire procedure including lineage and so on, [the patron says:] "There, you be my priest." Thus, by repeating the procedure, having completed the appointment and worship of all, and having sipped water for purification:
Upon the success of these two unions "You have been honored by me. This ritual should be performed with favor and according to the prescribed rules."
