How the sacred names of Spirits are rightly and properly drawn out consists in the arrangement of the vowels, which form the name of the spirit, and by which the name is established with a right and proper sound. This artifice original: artificium; referring to the skilled technique or "craft" of the magician is performed in this way: first, in placing the vowels of those letters which are found through the calculation of the Celestial Figure Celestial Figure: An astrological chart or horoscope of the heavens at a specific moment, used here to map letters to the positions of stars. It must be noted how to draw out the names of spirits of the second order—both good and evil presidents and Governors Governors: high-ranking spirits who rule over specific spheres or functions of the cosmos.
And this is accomplished for the good spirits as follows: once the stars that constitute the letters have been considered and arranged in order, first subtract the degree of the eleventh house The eleventh house in a natal or horary chart is traditionally associated with "Good Fortune" and the "Good Spirit" (Agathos Daimon) from the degree of the star that is first in the sequence. That which remains should be projected In this context, "projecting" means counting out the remaining degrees starting from a specific point on the zodiacal wheel from the degree of the Ascendant Ascendant: The point of the zodiac rising on the eastern horizon at the moment for which the chart is cast. Where that number ends, there lies the "part" original: pars; a specific mathematical point in a chart, similar to the "Arabic Parts" used in medieval astrology of the vowel for the first letter.
Begin, therefore, from that point to project the vowels of those letters according to their number and order; and whichever vowel falls upon the location of the star that is first in the sequence, that vowel is assigned to the first letter. Next, find the part of the second letter by subtracting the degree of the star that is second in the sequence from the prior star; and that which remains, project from the Ascendant. And this is the part from which you begin the projection of the vowels:
