॥ 2 1 ॥
The results are achieved through the proper performance of rituals. If Saturn, Mars, the Sun, or Rahu original: Śani, Bhauma, Sūrya, Rāhu act as obstructors, then the worship of the Lord of the Lineage original: Vaṃśeśa and the Family Deity original: Kula-devatā must be performed according to the methods described in the Sacred Traditions Āmnāya: A collective term signifying the Vedas, the Smritis (remembered laws), and the Puranas (ancient histories).
There is a specific distinction here: if Mercury, Jupiter, or the Lord of the Ninth House the house of fortune and fate are the obstructors, then success will be achieved quickly through rituals dedicated to Uma the Goddess Parvati. Thus concludes the section on the Fifth House original: Pañcama-bhāva. ॥ 16 ॥
Now, desiring to speak on the results of the Sixth House Ripu-bhāva: The house associated with enemies, debt, and disease, the author first describes diseases involving sores or wounds original: Vraṇa-roga.
If the Lord of the Sixth House is joined with a malefic planet and is situated in the Ascendant (the First House) or the Eighth House, then the person will have sores on their body.
Following this rule, if the Lord of the house associated with a relative—such as the mother, father, son, wife, or friend—is joined with a malefic planet and is situated in the Ascendant or the Eighth House, then that specific relative will suffer from sores on their body. This should be predicted based on the planet governing the specific part of the anatomy:
The Sun governs the head; the Moon governs the face; Mars governs the throat; Mercury governs the heart; and Jupiter governs the navel. ॥ 17 ॥
Venus governs the eyes and the back; Saturn governs the feet; and if it is Rahu or Ketu, they govern the lower lip. Furthermore, if the Lord of the Ascendant is situated in a sign ruled by Mars or Mercury and is aspected by them, or is placed in certain other positions, then that person will suffer from eye disease. This should be understood by those astrologers possessed of superior intellect. ॥ 18 ॥
If the lord is joined with a malefic in the Ascendant or the Eighth house, they will have sores; this must be spoken.
To explain the specific location of the sores: if the Lord of the Sixth House is the Sun original: Dinamaṇi, the sore is on the head. If it is the Moon original: Candra, it is on the face. If it is Mars original: Bhauma, it is on the throat. If it is Mercury original: Budha, it is on the heart. If it is Jupiter original: Vākpati, the sores are at the navel. ॥ 17 ॥
If it is Venus original: Śukra, the sore is at the base of the eyes. If it is Saturn original: Śani, it is on the back or the feet. If it is Rahu or Ketu, the sores are on the lip. This connects with the following verse.
Regarding the combination for eye disease original: Netra-vyādhi-yoga: if the Lord of the Ascendant is in a sign of Mars or Mercury, and is "seen" (aspected) by Mars or Mercury, regardless of which house it occupies, the person born at that time will suffer from eye disease. This is to be known only by astrologers Horikā: Practitioners of Hora or judicial astrology who possess refined intelligence. ॥ 18 ॥
