One should know the divisions of the day; the lords of the hours (Horas) original: horāpatayaḥ; planetary hours roughly equivalent to one twenty-fourth of a day are known in groups of five. Beginning with the ruler of the current day, the lords are the Sun, Venus, Mercury, the Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars in their respective order. original: ravi-śukra-saumya-śaśāṅka-sauri-ijya-kujāḥ; this follows the "Chaldean" order used in both Indian and Western astrology Whatever ritual or action is prescribed for the day of a particular planet, all of that should be performed during the specific hour (Hora) ruled by that same planet. || 24 ||
In sequence the Yogas original: Nitya Yogas; twenty-seven mathematical combinations of the Sun and Moon used to determine the character of a day occur: Viṣkumbha ("The Threshold"), Prīti ("Fondness"), and after that Āyuṣmān ("Long-lived"). Then Saubhāgya ("Good Fortune"), Śobhana ("Splendor"), Atigaṇḍa ("Great Obstacle"), and also Sukarma ("Virtuous Action"). || 1 ||
