If the remainder is one, success original: siddhi will occur; if the remainder is two, one should then avoid [expecting results]. If the remainder is zero, success will not happen. These are the characteristics of the three [possible outcomes].

The lunar day tithi; the specific day in the moon's cycle should be multiplied by four, increased by one, and then combined with the value of the weekday vāra. Understand that which is obtained by dividing by two, and also that which is multiplied by the Vedas original: veda-hate; the number 4, representing the four Vedas.
If the remainder is one, [the birth] will occur with a delay. If the remainder is two, it is not possible. With a remainder of four?, one should say it will happen in a very short time.
The weekday should be multiplied by three and combined with the lunar days. Divide this by two; if the remainder is even, [the pregnancy] exists; if it is odd, there is no result i.e., she is not pregnant.
One should take the count of the letters varna and the vowel marks mātrā of the question asked. If the result is odd, the conception of a fetus original: garbha-sambhūtiḥ has occurred; if even, one should say for certain that it has not.
