When Saturn resides in the first house Lagna: the ascendant or house of self, he acts as a minister of transformation, yet he limits the intellect. He causes the loss of good reputation and makes the individual prone to jealousy, though they may possess a "divine voice" original: "devavāṇī," suggesting a solemn or prophetic way of speaking. 1
In the second house Dhana-bhava: the house of wealth and speech, the presence of Saturn indicates a lack of harmony. The individual may suffer from diseases of the rectum original: "gudāmayī" and ailments affecting the ears. There is a persistent sense of being troubled by the elements of water and fire. 2
In the third house, when the "Harsh-Rayed One" Saturn is often described by his cold or piercing influence is positioned there, there is a lack of stability and a loss of melodic happiness. One experiences fear and tends to wander aimlessly. A peculiar physical mark, such as a sign resembling a dog Sarameya: descendant of Sarama, a dog, may appear on the feet. 3

He brings about intense suffering through pains in the head and a "diminishing of the internal fire" original: "pāvakasyaprapīḍā," referring to poor digestion or low vitality. This placement is known to cause the destruction of the great ancestral home original: "mahālayabhedavidhvaṃsa," implying a breakdown of the family estate or lineage, even if one otherwise conducts themselves with graceful movement.
