...on the third, sixth, and other days. Avoiding the forbidden stars, one should consider wealth and religious duties. According to the wise, when considering the transit of planets relative to the Birth House term: Janma-griha (The zodiac sign or house occupied by the Moon at the time of an individual's birth), one must be mindful of the auspiciousness of the planets.
One should especially avoid the five specific actions during the Moon's transit through the Birth Star term: Janma-nakshatra (The specific lunar mansion the moon was in when a person was born):
1. Commencing a journey.
2. Beginning the construction of a house (specifically the doorway).
3. Marriage.
4. Shaving or cutting hair.
5. Performing certain rituals?.
If one undergoes shaving [at this inauspicious time], they may suffer disease or injury from a weapon; during a journey, they may meet with misfortune; in marriage, the woman may become a widow; and during house-building, it leads to the loss of wealth.
According to the sage Narada:
The nine planetary influences, calculated repeatedly from the birth star, are:
1. Birth original: "Janma"
2. Wealth original: "Sampat"
3. Misfortune original: "Vipat"
4. Well-being original: "Kshema"
5. Obstacle original: "Pratyari"
6. Achievement original: "Sadhana"
7. Destruction original: "Naidhana"
8. Friendship original: "Mitra"
9. Great Friendship original: "Paramamitra"
The stars known as Birth (1st), Misfortune (3rd), Obstacle (5th), and Destruction (7th) provide undesirable results. To counter these inauspicious effects, one should offer gifts to the learned ones original: "Dvija" (Twice-born or Brahmins). The prescribed donations are: vegetables, jaggery, salt, sesame seeds, and gold, respectively Note: The donation matches the specific inauspicious star being countered.
The Moon is particularly powerful during the waxing phase term: Shukla-paksha (The bright fortnight of the lunar month). As stated by the astronomer Shripati: "Even if the Moon is not at its absolute peak of strength in other regards, the elders declare that the power of the stars is the primary influence here."
Just as the physical senses follow the direction of the mind, all other planets follow the strength or weakness of the Moon. Their auspicious or inauspicious effects are dependent on the Moon’s condition; they do not act in isolation.
Now, regarding the activities suited for various lunar days term: Tithi (A lunar day, of which there are 30 in a lunar month):
One should perform purification rituals, festivals, architectural work (Vastu), and field work. Similarly, disputes and journeys should be managed according to the specific strength of the day. One should utilize the "Victorious" days original: "Jaya" tithis (the 3rd, 8th, and 13th days) for useful works, while avoiding the "Empty" days term: Rikta (The 4th, 9th, and 14th lunar days, considered 'empty' or hollow, and thus unsuitable for starting important new ventures)...
