Dhanishtha, Swati, Shatabhisha original: Varuna, Shravana original: Vasava, the three "Latter" constellations Uttara Phalguni, Uttara Ashadha, and Uttara Bhadrapada, Rohini, Ardra, Chitra, Revati original: Paushna, Mula, and Magha are recommended for the rite of conception term: nisheka (the first ritual union between husband and wife).
One must avoid the twilights of day and night, as well as the following lunar days term: tithi: the sixth, eighth, fourteenth, and fifteenth the New Moon or Full Moon. These are considered inauspicious and cause fear; the remaining days are remembered as auspicious for the ritual of the womb. One should also avoid the eleventh and thirteenth days for the first travel to the wife’s bed.
The manuscript reads "Kesh-vedhane," but the context of the constellations listed—Shravana, Pushya, etc.—indicates the Karnavedhana or ear-piercing ceremony for a child.
For the piercing, the following constellations are auspicious: Shravana, Pushya, Ashwini original: Vaji, Mula, Mrigashira, Punarvasu original: Aditi, and the three Uttaras. This should be performed on the tenth, fifth, or other auspicious lunar days, preferably on a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday original: Saumyavara referring to the "gentle" days.
The Pumsavana term: pumsavana (a ritual performed to ensure the birth of a male child and the health of the fetus) is to be performed when the pregnancy is manifest, specifically in the third or fourth month.
According to the Rajamartanda a treatise on astrology and auspicious timing attributed to King Bhoja:
The constellations Hasta, Shravana, and the two Bhadrapadas Purva and Uttara Bhadrapada, along with the days of Jupiter Thursday, the Sun Sunday, and Mars Tuesday, are praised for the Pumsavana and related rites.
Narada a legendary sage and author of astrological laws says:
The ritual of parting the hair term: simantonnayana (a baby shower-like rite performed for the mother's mental health and fetal protection) should be performed in the fourth, sixth, or eighth month on an auspicious day when the couple possesses the strength of the Moon and the stars.
Some say it may occur in the eighth month from the time of conception, or even in the ninth month, up until the moment the child is released from the womb.
Guru the planet Jupiter or a title for a teacher says:
The bright fortnight the waxing moon phase is declared auspicious, except for the transition times. Even then, it should be done in the first half of the day, never in the afternoon.
Regarding the Lunar Days:
The second, fifth, eighth, seventh, twelfth sacred to Vishnu/Hari, thirteenth, and third are considered excellent.
