The letter A original: "A-kara" is first, then I, and U is the third. The letter E is the fourth, O Goddess of the Gods, and O is the fifth. These five vowels are proclaimed as those by which the entire world is pervaded.

The elements bhutas; the five great elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space, such as Earth and the others, are declared to reside in these for embodied beings.
