If a malefic planet original: krūre, literally "cruel," referring to planets like Mars or Saturn is present, these traits are emphasized; if a benefic planet original: saumye, literally "gentle," referring to planets like Jupiter or Venus is present, the person is well-informed and wealthy.

When the Lord of the Third House original: sahajapati, the lord of the house governing brothers, courage, and communication is situated in the Ascendant the First House, the man becomes an eloquent speaker, yet he is lecherous, creates divisions among his own kinsmen, is devoted to service, greedy, and performs cruel deeds. 1
When the Lord of the Third House goes to the House of Wealth the Second House, the man becomes a beggar, lacks wealth, is small in stature, and opposes his relatives. If a malefic planet is involved, these hardships occur; however, if a benefic planet is involved, the man becomes a lord or a person of means. 2
When the Lord of the Third House is situated in the Third House itself, it creates a person of balanced character. If the planet is auspicious original: śubhe, he is devoted to good people, gods, and his gurus, and remains happy among his kinsmen. This placement brings profit to the man. 3
When the Lord of Brothers original: bhrātṛpatau goes to the Fourth House, the man is nourished by his father, relatives, and siblings. However, he creates enmity with his mother and consumes his father's wealth. 4
When the Lord of the Third House original: sahajapatau goes to the Fifth House the House of Children, the person is nourished by his siblings and becomes long-lived. His mind is solely intent on helping others. 5
When the Lord of the Third House goes to the Sixth House, he opposes his relatives and suffers from eye diseases. While he may gain much land, he is occasionally troubled by clusters of diseases. 6
When the Lord of the Third House goes to the Seventh House, he appears in the assemblies of men. His wife will be of excellent form, fortunate, and chaste. If a malefic planet is present, she may go to the house of her brother-in-law original: devaragṛhaṃ, potentially implying remarriage or dependency. 7
The Lord of Brothers going to the Eighth House causes the death of siblings. If a malefic planet is involved, the man lives with a deformity or weakness in his arms. 8
When the Lord of the Third House goes to the Ninth House the House of Dharma or Fortune, if a malefic planet is present, the man is conquered by his relatives. If a benefic planet is present, he is highly honored, virtuous, and possesses many siblings. 9
In the Tenth House, the Lord of the Third makes one devoted to or supported by servants. He has excellent relatives and becomes a powerful lord or leader.
