The upward-reaching lines from the wrist manibandha are of seven kinds. The most auspicious among them is the "Royal Lotus" original: "rajakamala"; one possessing this mark is born to be a great ruler. || 4 ||
If a line reaches the index finger tarjani, it indicates a life of asceticism or penance tapas. If the line reaches the middle finger madhyama, the resulting fruit is fame and the status of a commander of armies original: "sainyapa". || 5 ||
If the line reaches the ring finger anamika, it brings great honor and the status of a merchant-leader sarthavaha or great wealth. If it reaches the little finger kanishtha, the wise say it brings well-being and merit. || 6 ||
One who possesses well-formed whorls or circles cakra on the fingers, golden-hued nails, and long fingers is fortunate. However, a palm that is blue in color or [spotted] indicates one who will not possess wealth. || 7 ||
A yellow tint on the limbs or nails indicates wealth accompanied by sorrow; a blackish tint indicates that one's wealth will be stolen or lost. || 8 ||
A palm that has no lines at all, or one that has an excessive multitude of lines, indicates a thief taskara by nature; this applies to both the male and female sex, of this there is no doubt. || 9 ||
Regarding the lines at the wrist manibandhana: the wise say a single line indicates [fear/instability]. If there are two or three lines reaching toward the index finger, or if they are spaced evenly and well-formed, such a person is considered full of virtue and free from all faults. || 10 ||
