The system of other traditions original: "parantantrātmakaṃ" and the Mark of Distinction original: "tilakaṃ" should be known as the Hundred-fold Stream original: "śatadruḥ". Beyond that, one finds the ritual pills gutika: small consecrated pellets used for medicinal or magical protection, the elaboration of the teachings, and the scientific applications original: "śāstra-parikriyā". These include the characteristics of weapons, techniques for crushing and breaking, the application of medicinal ointments, and the arrangement of incantations original: "mantra". This also encompasses the ritual of the Great Horn original: "kāhalāñcana-vidhiṃ", the protective breastplate, and the rules for the ritual meal. (18)
In that sequence, I shall arrange the Banner original: "patākāṃ", the Peacock-feather Bundle original: "piñchicā", and other ritual tools such as the Pacification Rite original: "śāntika", the Gateway original: "pratoraṇa", and the one named the Standard of Victory original: "dhvaja".
In this sixth section concerning the Victory of the Elephant King original: "Gaja-hastirāja-vijaya", this sequence of diagrams original: "yantra-kramo" has been arranged by the wise. It is highly effective for those submerged in the power of the mantras, even in complex or confused situations. Thus, the application of this work is revealed for the benefit of the practitioner. (18) This tradition is carried forward through the instruction of the Guru original: "gurupadeśa" by those who know the secrets of the breath-sounds. It is intended to turn back misfortune in battle. It is known as the Elephant-King of the Mountain original: "sādra-gajahasti" system. (19) Thus ends the Index of Diagrams.
For kings, the highest duty is the protection of their subjects; to punish those who deserve it is their righteousness original: "dharma". Just as King Janamejaya A legendary king from the Mahabharata known for his powerful rituals achieved fame through his own strength, so too does one find the description of the vowels svara: refers both to grammatical vowels and the flow of breath through the nostrils in this "Victory of the King." (1)
Therefore, I shall now describe the natural vowels in brief, through which one may know what is auspicious or inauspicious across all time. The five vowels beginning with 'A' are short; with the long vowels, they become six. These sixteen are said to be the Mothers of the Vowels original: "svara-mātṛkā". I shall now speak of their specific measures. (2)
Among them, the four vowels are paired, and the vowels are joined in tens. Among these, five are short; these measures of the vowels should be employed through the "staff" of the breath-flow. (3) The measure, the letter, the category, the life-force original: "jīva", the mantra, the success, and the "mass" original: "piṇḍaka" of the Elephant—these eight are the markers of distinction. This is what is said regarding the success of the vowels. (4)
One who knows this arrives quickly even from a distance. Therefore, one should protect the world of mortals. In the first category, there is the measure original: "mātrā", known as the Jewel of Weapons. ro vā svatrāvaḍahagā vasmitā stiryākiṃ? One should establish these in the first cells of the diagram. One should write the five vowels and letters in sequence, starting with the letter 'A' within the supreme Wheel original: "cakra-varaṃ"...
