...the performance of coral-related work original: "saṃpravāḍā-" referring to coral or similar trade, the commencement of travel, and the auspicious entry into a new house or village. It is also for the worship of deities, for achieving success in installations original: "sthāpane," likely referring to the installation of idols, and for ceremonies of initiation, asceticism, and consecration. It applies further to the construction of residences and palaces. (42)
The wearing of auspicious ornaments, the timing of coronations, and the beginning of various name-giving ceremonies or strengthening rituals should also be undertaken when the vowel is in a "living" state. For those who seek success, the hand of the wise practitioner avoids confusion and heat original: "vibhrahastambhamohā-," likely meaning avoiding the paralysis of doubt or failure, ensuring that the work is successfully completed.
In the science of the Arising of Sounds and Letters Svarodaya: the ancient practice of using breath and phonemes for divination and timing, one should perform all actions—whether they lead to good or bad results—according to the rising of the vowels. This is especially true for travel and for battle, as declared by the Lord himself. (44)
Whatever has been spoken by the ancient texts for the purpose of purification, and whatever worldly customs have been established, all should be performed in accordance with the measures of the vowels and their sounds. Whether it be the lunar day, the rising sign, or the mathematical combinations of days and periods original: "tithau vādhilagna-gaṇita-dinayoga-karaṇaiḥ", these remembered auspicious times yield their fruits only when the vowels of the person's name or lineage are in the correct state.
Because of this, the mathematical method for the vowels has been given. By knowing the clear instruments for calculating the points of influence original: "vedha," a technical term for the intersection or piercing of astrological points, one discovers the results. In this calculation, one should divide the units of time.
One should take the duration of the lunar day, converted into Ghatikas and Palas Ghatika and Pala: traditional Indian units of time; a Ghatika is 24 minutes, and a Pala is 24 seconds. Using the mathematical factors of the Sun, one should divide the remaining portions to find the specific vowel sound. From this, the results—for sacrifices and other rites—should be known. The wise practitioner should purify these elements; thus, a king or leader is not defeated but rather achieves victory over others.
As previously stated, the mastery of the strength of the letters is achieved through the Diagrams original: "chakra". In the Bright Fortnight Shukla Paksha: the period of the waxing moon, these are particularly powerful during the day. In this diagram, the vowels and their respective powers are united. When these powers are unified in the bright fortnight, the diagram becomes a giver of victory.
Regarding the naming of a person, the first letter is paramount. When combined with the calculated day and lunar day, it reveals the time of potential destruction. Through the divisions of the Hour original: "hora" and the Ninth-parts original: "navabhāga," or Navamsha, the "Child" state of the vowel original: "bala-svara" and others are determined.
From the moment of sunrise, according to the duration of each vowel’s influence, this applies to the fortnight, the month, and the passage of years. Even in a cycle of twelve years, the transformation of the vowel state occurs. The timing of the rising sign and the units of the Ghati are thus essential for calculation...
