...even so, if the practitioner should transcribe the letters original: "ka ja jhrava," likely referring to specific seed-syllables or phonemes used in tantric diagrams and the forms of women, the result will be immobilization Stambhana: a magical act intended to paralyze or halt an opponent's actions. Through this, the twelve-fold success is achieved once again.
✓ In the system of seven and five, the letters ma, ya, and sha are described as the essence of immobilization by those who know the secrets.
Short and long vowels must be correctly understood; they are the internal distinctions within the practice of immobilization. 3 The sequential placement of the letters here follows the order of the grid. These syllables, beginning with the "unspoken" ones, each consist of four letters.
The chart includes the intercalary constellation Abhijit: a "hidden" 28th lunar mansion often used in specialized divination; there are one hundred and twelve positions in total. 7 Within the sixty-four square grid original: "shattanshakakoshtasya," literally a 64-part chamber, the "cruel" and "gentle" planets Krura-saumya: malefic and benefic astrological bodies reside. From there, through their horizontal and diagonal connections, one identifies the primary and final influences. 8
One should recognize the omens through the "piercing" Vedha: an astrological concept where a planet at one point in a diagram "strikes" or affects another point of the gentle planets. Among the auspicious and inauspicious moving stars, one must discern the state of "non-piercing" through friendly or neutral relationships. Whatever good or bad results are described in the Sarvatobhadra The "Auspicious in All Respects" chart, a highly complex 9x9 or 10x10 grid used for forecasting regarding the piercing of planets and minor planets—all those varied results across every direction are found here.
This concludes the section on the Shatapada Chakra The "Hundred-Foot Chart," likely referring to the 10x10 grid used in the previous section.
I shall now speak of the Kurma Chakra Tortoise Chart: a geographical-astrological diagram where the land is mapped onto the body of a cosmic tortoise according to the school of Koshala. By the mere knowledge of this, one can understand the coming upheavals of a country Deshaviplava: political unrest, invasion, or natural disaster.
The mountains, the single peak where the gods reside, and the millions of women—all of this, along with Mount Meru The sacred center of the universe in Hindu cosmology, is perceived as being well-contained within the earth. The eight mountain ranges and the oceans are all held by the Earth; but who holds the Earth herself? She is held by the Boar Varaha: the third avatar of Vishnu who lifted the earth from the cosmic ocean. That Great Boar, the upholder of the world, shines as if he were a garland.
Even the great-bodied Indra King of the Gods stands upon the head of that Boar. Located at the Boar’s crest-jewel is my own head This likely refers to the "head" or northern point of the diagram being discussed. 5 In this manner, the serpent Shesha The thousand-headed cosmic serpent exists, coiled and supporting the foundation. The Tortoise is situated in a specific portion of the view, positioned beneath the surface.
I shall now describe with great care the measurements of this cosmic Tortoise. It extends for hundreds of thousands, even millions of Yojanas Yojana: a traditional measure of distance, roughly 8 to 9 miles. Half of that is its width, and its height is half of that again. 8
The head of the tortoise, measured at ten million units, is known by sages such as Sanaka. Within that space, the interval is measured as one million units. 9 The span of its torso is twice that, as are its feet. The number of its fingers and claws is reckoned in the tens of thousands of Yojanas. This measurement of the Tortoise is also declared in the Yamala texts A class of ancient Tantric scriptures. On its upper...
