When a lunar day Tithi is available on only one of the days during the time for a single meal Ekabhakta original: "Ekabhaktena"; a ritual discipline where one eats only once a day, typically at midday, then that single meal should be performed on that day, as per the specific determination for that lunar day. || 84 ||
If that lunar day occurs during the evening original: "Sayam-kale", then the night meal Nakta a ritual where the meal is taken only after the stars appear should also be observed on that day. If the lunar day does not span the evening on both days, then the night meal is observed on the day it is present; otherwise, the determination depends on the accumulation of the Tithi. || 85 ||
The same logic applies to fasting Upavasa and other such rites specifically regarding the Third Lunar Day Trtiya. This is also the general determination for the Second Lunar Day Dvitiya and others, following this same logical path. || 86 ||
Lunar Day 8Thus ends the determination of the Third Lunar Day.
The vow of unsolicited food Ayachita involves the cessation of asking for food. Eating only what is provided without being requested is considered equivalent to a fast. || 87 ||
Now, the determination of the [Ayachita] Vow. The original text here is slightly unclear but marks a transition to rules for charity and specific vow timings.
In the performance of charity original: "Dana" and vows Vrata, the lunar day that is present at sunrise original: "Udaya-gamini" should be accepted. If it lasts for at least three muhurtas a period of 48 minutes; three muhurtas equals 2 hours and 24 minutes after sunrise, it is considered highly authoritative and complete. || 88 ||
If the lunar day is present at sunrise on both [consecutive] days, then the day that covers the actual time of the meal should be chosen. The decision then rests on whether the duration of the Tithi on both days is equal or unequal. || 89 ||
