If it is in a movable sign, he is in a distant land. 11 If the Ascendant Lagna is in a mountainous sign and aspected by planets in the tenth, the father’s status is determined by the strength of those planets. 37 When Jupiter and Venus are in the dual signs Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces or if Saturn is in the Ascendant, it indicates the father is away. If the Ascendant is a fixed sign and contains the lord of the ninth, the father is at home. 15

If Mars and Saturn are in specific houses, or if Jupiter and Saturn are together, one should speak of the father's passing. If the Sun is in the path of Mars or Saturn, it indicates the father’s death original: "janakasya mrityuh". 18

If the lords of the twelfth and the first houses are weak and defeated in planetary war Graha Yuddha, and if the Sun is in the eighth house, the father will suffer from diseases original: "piturugarditah" at the time of birth. 30 If Saturn is powerful and situated in a certain sign, or if it is aspected by Mars, the father suffers from chronic ailments or wind-based disorders. 18

If the planets are in trine Trikona positions, the results vary between day and night. For a birth at night, Saturn takes the role of the father; for a day birth, the Sun original: "Surya" is considered the primary indicator of the father. 35 If malefic planets Papa-kheta are in the ninth house, it signifies a time of fear and death. If the Sun, Saturn, and Mars are in specific houses and not aspected by benefics, it brings great misfortune Arishta to the father. 40

On the Misfortune of the Parents

If the ninth house is occupied by Saturn and other malefic travelers planets are in the eighth house, the father will face sorrow and the child will be born into a troubled state. 41 If Mars is joined with the son of the Sun Saturn; original: "Suryasuta" in a night birth, the father will have passed away before the birth or will depart shortly thereafter. 42 If the Sun is positioned in the eighth house and joined with Saturn and Mars, there is no doubt that the father meets his end at the time of birth. 44

If malefic planets are in the twelfth, first, and seventh houses from the Ascendant, the mother original: "Janani" dies along with the child; of this, there is no doubt. 44 If malefics are in the sixth and twelfth houses, the mother does not survive. However, if they are in the eighth, seventh, or the Ascendant, and yet a benefic planet aspects them, she may be spared. 45 If Saturn and Mars are in the seventh or in trine, and if Venus is in its exaltation, the mother will have a long life. If Jupiter is in its own house and aspects the seventh or the Ascendant, the mother remains safe from death. 10
