Happiness, the birth or success of children, and the receipt of honors occur when Mercury Somya: "the son of the Moon," referring to the planet Mercury enters the major cycle of Saturn Shauri: a title for Saturn, meaning the son of Shura. During this time, one may see the growth of one's village or community. However, this period also brings physical ailments caused by imbalances of Vāta: the wind or air humor and Pitta: the fire or bile humor These are two of the three 'doshas' or bodily humors in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. Friction and disagreements with sons, friends, and associates are also likely.
During the sub-period of Ketu Ketu: the South Node of the Moon, associated with karmic isolation within the major cycle of Saturn original: "Sūryaputra," literally "the Son of the Sun," a common epithet for Saturn, one must contend with enemies.
When Mars Kshiti: "the son of the Earth," referring to Mars enters the major cycle of Saturn, one finds success in wealth and victory. This time is endowed with the enjoyment of pleasures and general happiness. However, it can also lead to the acquisition of new enemies, even while one focuses on the welfare of beloved family and sons.
A time of great fear and even uncertainty regarding life itself original: "jīvitasyāpi saṃdehaḥ," implying a life-threatening crisis or deep existential dread arises during the sub-period of the Sun during Saturn's major cycle. This transit brings about the loss of or separation from women, a decline in physical pleasures, and significant mental anxiety original: "udvega".
In the sub-period of the Moon Chandra during the major cycle of Saturn, diseases arising from Kapha: the phlegm or water humor and Māruta: the wind humor or Vata manifest.
