॥ Salutation to the Illustrious Ganesha ॥ Lord Ganesha is traditionally invoked at the beginning of Hindu texts to remove obstacles and ensure the successful completion of the work. Having bowed to the Lord of Obstacles, the Mother of the World, the Sun and the other planets, the illustrious Keshava and other predecessors, and the Guru—who is like the unique sun that causes the lotus-like experts of the Science of Light Original: Jyotiḥ-śāstra. This refers to astrology and astronomy. to bloom—I shall now speak of the science of horoscopy. In the science known as Tajika, which was made famous by the venerable Romaka and others, as well as by the noble and wise Tajika scholars, I present this auspicious work. ॥ 1 ॥
Because this has not been clearly or separately explained by others in the Tajika scriptures, and since it is considered exceedingly difficult for people to grasp, I provide this to ensure a complete and thorough understanding. Therefore, from the vast ocean of Tajika scriptures, a jewel is indeed being extracted. It is named the Jewel of Tajika Original: Tajikaratna. Tajika is a branch of Indian astrology that incorporates significant Persian and Arabic influences, particularly regarding annual horoscopes (solar returns)., and it is the best guide for calculating the outcomes of the year. ॥ 2 ॥
Whether it be the original or specifically derived teachings, or those in harmony with Lord Shiva and Parvati, or the solar teachings revealed by Maya to the son of Romaka... it was spoken by the foreigners Original: Mleccha. Historically, this term referred to non-Aryans or foreigners; in the context of Tajika astrology, it specifically refers to the Greek, Persian, or Arabic scholars from whom these techniques were adapted.... by the foreigners and by Romaka...
