२१३ Thus concludes the consideration of the Five-Fold Strength.
A planet is considered neutral or moderate when it is positioned with a friend, in its own sign, or when it forms a benefic Itthashala original: "itthashāla," from the Arabic "ittisāl" (connection), an applying aspect where a faster planet moves toward a slower one or a Sarapha configuration original: "sarāpha," from the Arabic "saraf," a separating aspect.
५ A planet's influence is considered auspicious or excellent when it is located in its own sign, its divisional portion original: "lavada," likely referring to the Navamsha or 1/9th division, its decan original: "drekkāṇa," a 10-degree division, its bounds original: "hadda," from the Arabic "hadd," specific degrees of a sign assigned to different planets, or its sign of exaltation. Conversely, a planet located in the twelfth house the house of loss, isolation, and expenditure is said to grant unfavorable results.
5 When a planet is in the seventh sign from its exaltation point the sign of its "fall" or debilitation, or when it lacks its own sign or exaltation status, the planet is regarded as moderate in power. २२

If the score of the Five-Fold Strength is greater than the numerical values representing the "four oceans and ten directions" This uses a traditional Sanskrit numerical code called "Bhuta-sankhya," where "oceans" (jaladhi) equals 4 and "directions" (dig) equals 10, totaling 14, the planet is considered Strong. If the score is less than this, it is Moderate. If it is significantly lower, the celestial body is deemed Weak in power.
Thus ends the calculation of Favorable and Unfavorable Strength.
One should subtract the position of the Sun original: "sahasra-kiraṇa," the thousand-rayed one from the Moon original: "kumudinī-pateḥ," the lord of the night-lily during the day. At night, the calculation is reversed. Then, add the degrees of the Ascendant original: "tanu," the body or rising sign to the result to find the Lot of Fortune Sahama-Punya: a specific mathematical point in the horoscope representing prosperity and merit, equivalent to the "Pars Fortunae" in Western astrology.
