If a person sees the all-encompassing disc of the sun original: आदित्यमंडलं (ādityamaṇḍalaṃ). Specifically referring to the solar orb or mandala. or the moon in a dream, one who is afflicted by disease is released from illness, and a healthy person shall obtain prosperity. If a man drinks blood or spirits in a dream, a Brahmin The priestly or scholarly class in the traditional social structure. will gain knowledge, while others will gain wealth. If one sees a woman dressed in white garments, adorned with pearls and scented unguents, and she embraces him in a dream, one should declare that prosperity is coming to him.
If one wakes after dreaming of sandals, vehicles, or an umbrella, or of leaping over something... unfavorable?... he should declare that food will be obtained. 2. He who climbs alone into a carriage yoked with oxen shall quickly obtain wealth accompanied by the brilliance of lightning. Gaining yogurt brings fame; drinking clarified butter ghṛtaoriginal: घृत. Ghee, used in rituals and considered a substance of purity and health. brings the lord of prosperity and fame; and eating yogurt also brings fame.
If a man is wrapped in intestines, whether in a city or in a house—if in a house, he becomes a local ruler maulikaoriginal: मौलिक. A headman or local chieftain., and if in a city, he becomes a sovereign king. He who sees human flesh in his dreams, or dreams of eating it while asleep, the result is the gain of a thousand [pieces of gold]; by eating a horse, one gains a kingdom, or perhaps a hundred thousand by eating a head.
All white objects seen in dreams are beautiful and auspicious, except for cotton, ashes, cooked rice, and buttermilk. Conversely, all black objects are highly condemned and ominous. If one drinks foamy milk directly while the cow is being milked—or milk from an elephant, a god, or a Brahmin—he shall see the arrival of a woman as beautiful as a wheel. The gains of yogurt and gems are three-fold: the arrival of cattle, lotus-like wealth, and Vedic study. One should know that seeing barley signifies the arrival of a person, as does the gain of mustard seeds. If one receives a betel leaf, a certain mountain-born fruit, or pale sandalwood in a dream, his prosperity will be all-encompassing.
In this regard, the sage Shaunaka A legendary scholar and sage to whom many ancient Indian texts on ritual and observation are attributed. says: Now I shall speak of the omens heard regarding dreams. If a human sees the sun or the moon distorted, 1. or deformed, or falling, or sees the sky without constellations or stars, he shall encounter death and sorrow. In the Svapnadhyaya original: स्वप्नाध्याये. Literally "The Chapter on Dreams," likely referring to a specific section of a larger work like the Agni Purana or a Brihat Samhita variant. it is said: if a man sees a blossoming Ashoka tree, a Karavira Oleander., or a Palasha tree Butea monosperma, known for its bright orange "flame of the forest" flowers. at the end of a dream, he shall encounter sorrow.
He who climbs a boat to cross a river or the ocean—if the water is clear—one should declare the swift arrival of a person. 2. If a man dreams of a woman wearing [red] garments and red scented unguents who embraces him, one should declare his death. If the body is anointed with oil, or bathed in milk, or with fat, or any other oily substance, it indicates illness for the dreamer. If the hair of the head falls out or is scattered, or if the teeth fall out, it signifies the loss of wealth or the loss of a son.
He who climbs upon a donkey, a camel, or a buffalo while alone—his death is being urged; he shall meet his end quickly. The loss of nails or the nose, the falling of teeth or hair, the eating of cooked meat, and riding on a donkey, camel, or buffalo—all these states signify death in a dream.
