Knowledge Science Science, education, and all manner of crafts are favored on the Second day original: Dwitiya; all such activities are also highly praised when performed on the Third day original: Tritiya. ॥ 22 ॥ The destruction or piercing of enemies, battle, and the preparation of weapons should be carried out on the Fourth day original: Chaturthi, though some auspicious acts may rarely succeed there. ॥ 23 ॥ All auspicious works, whether they are "stationary" like building a house or "moving" like starting a journey, attain success on the Fifth day original: Panchami, except for the lending of money. ॥ 24 ॥ Working with ivory, bathing with oils, and crafts, as well as warfare, architecture Vastuthe traditional Indian system of architecture and design, and making jewelry, are successful on the Sixth day original: Shashthi. ॥ 25 ॥ Tasks involving elephants, marriage and similar rites, music, and the wearing of new clothes or jewelry; likewise, journeys, entering a new place, and battles are successful on the Seventh day original: Saptami. ॥ 26 ॥ Activities concerning the king, women, gems, and jewelry, as well as battle, the bearing of weapons, architecture, and crafts, shall find success when performed on the Eighth day original: Ashtami. 27 Battle, quarrels, gambling, drinking alcohol, and hunting; likewise, deeds involving poison, fire, and weapons, shall find success on the Ninth day original: Navami. 28 All auspicious acts like marriage, the wearing of jewelry, travel, and entering a new home; as well as tasks concerning elephants, horses, and the king, are successful on the Tenth day original: Dashami. ॥ 29 ॥ The initiation of vows Vratabandhathe sacred thread ceremony for students, marriage, warfare, crafts, festivals for the gods, coming and going, and making jewelry are praised on the Eleventh day original: Ekadashi. 30 One should perform "moving" or "fixed" tasks, marriage, and the initiation of vows on the Twelfth day original: Dwadashi; however, one should avoid the use of oil and travel as prescribed. ॥ 31 ॥ Day 7 Travel, entering a house, battle, and auspicious acts involving clothes and jewelry—excluding the initiation of vows—are suitable for the Thirteenth day original: Trayodashi. ॥ 32 ॥ Harsh acts such as piercing, fire-rites, and weapons should be used on the Fourteenth day original: Chaturdashi; one should avoid auspicious work, wine, and travel. ॥ 33 ॥ Auspicious rites, jewelry, crafts, the consecration of idols Pratishtha, battle, and household duties are successfully accomplished on the Full Moon day original: Purnimasi. ॥ 34 ॥ Establishing the sacred fire, making great gifts Mahadana, and sacrifices for the ancestors Pitri-yaga—these are the deeds to be performed on the New Moon DarshaAmavasya; no other auspicious action should be done. ॥ 35 ॥
