On the New Moon original: Amavasya, as well as on the sixth day original: Shashthi and the eleventh day original: Ekadashi, and when one is fasting: one should not perform oral hygiene DantadhavanaThe traditional practice of cleaning teeth using a medicinal twig during the first three hours original: Yama after the start of the first lunar day. ॥ 36 ॥
॥ Now, forbidden days for bathing with Indian Gooseberry AmalakaThe fruit of the Emblica officinalis tree, often used in ritual baths for its cooling and purifying properties ॥
On the tenth, the seventh, the New Moon, the second, and the ninth days; likewise on the thirteenth day, a person should never bathe with Indian Gooseberry. ॥ 37 ॥
॥ Now, forbidden days for activities involving oil and other acts ॥
Shaving original: Kshaura on the fourteenth day, applying oil on the sixth, eating meat on the eighth, and sexual intercourse on the New Moon day should be avoided if one desires a long life. ॥ 38 ॥
॥ Now, the items to be avoided for the sixteen lunar days starting from the first ॥
One should avoid mangoes on the first day original: Pratipada, and the Brihati fruit a type of Indian nightshade/eggplant. [Also avoid] salt, radish, jackfruit, and the application of oil.

[Avoid] the Indian Gooseberry, coconut, pointed gourd original: Patola, beans, meat, radish, banana, and honey in that order [through the lunar cycle]. ॥ 40 ॥ Sexual intercourse on the New Moon or the Full Moon is considered a great disrespect.
Now, regarding the start-dates of the Eras YugadiSacred days marking the beginning of the four cosmic ages of the world and the Manvantaras ManvadiDates marking the beginning of the reign of a Manu, a progenitor of humanity ॥
The ninth day of the bright half of Kartika and the third day of the bright half of Vaishakha; ॥ 41 ॥ the thirteenth day of the dark half of Ashvina and the New Moon of Phalguna. The Treta Era began in the month of Kartika on the 9th, and the Treta also began in Madhava Vaishakha. ॥ 42 ॥ The Dvapara Era began in Phalguna, and the Kali Era our current age began in the month of Shravana. On these days, one should give gifts of sesame, grain, salt, gold, and cows. ॥ 43 ॥ These Era-beginnings Yugadis are holy; however, the wise should avoid common auspicious works on them. Among these, the third day original: Akshaya Tritiya is exceptionally beautiful for all types of work. ॥ 44 ॥
The ninth of the bright half of Ashvina, the seventh of Magha, the third of the bright half of Bhadrapada, and the auspicious twelfth of Kartika; ॥ 45 ॥ the eighth of the dark half of Bhadrapada, and the eleventh of the bright half of Ashvina... ॥ 46 ॥ Now, there are three such Manvantara dates in the month of Bhadrapada. ॥ 47 ॥ Here, the months should be known to end with the Full Moon original: Rakanta. This is known by the astrologer Rama original: Ganako Rama.
