Proficiency in the arts, commerce, concluding peace treaties, physical exercise, and service; as well as instrumental music, study, and writing—these should be undertaken on Wednesday. ॥ 8 ॥

Religious activities for women, learning, sensory enjoyment, nourishment, and the collection of resources; travel, medicine, and the wearing of ornaments should be performed on Thursday. ॥ 9 ॥

Singing, [matters involving] women, gems, fine bedding, and the like; clothing, festive celebrations, ornaments, aesthetic interests, and managing treasuries—all these find success on Friday. ॥ 10 ॥

Entering a new home, spiritual initiation, the taming of elephants, and actions intended for stability; [matters involving] servants, queens, and kings—all this is successful on Saturday. ॥ 11 ॥

Activities aimed at the growth or increase of a planet's influence should be performed on that planet's own day for auspicious results. Conversely, activities aimed at decrease or removal will not succeed, even with great effort. ॥ 12 ॥

Adjusting for one's own location and the distance from the prime meridian original: Rekha by yojanas an ancient unit of distance, roughly 8-9 miles minus a quarter... by that many minutes PalasA traditional unit of time; 60 palas make one ghati (24 minutes) added or subtracted, the lunar days are determined as before. ॥ 13 ॥ When the difference in minutes is subtracted from or added to midday, the entry of the day is reckoned from sunrise... ॥ 14 ॥

The number of ghatis 24-minute periods passed since the start of the day should be multiplied by two and divided by five. The resulting number indicates the current HoraA planetary hour, roughly one-twenty-fourth of the time from one sunrise to the next, starting sequentially from the ruler of that day. ॥ 15 ॥

The Sun, Venus, Mercury, the Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars—in this specific order, the planets are known as the Lords of the Hours. ॥ 16 ॥ Whatever activity was prescribed by the ancient teachers for a particular day will surely find success if it is performed specifically during the Hora of that planet. ॥ 17 ॥

It is said that the "defects" or inauspicious influences of the days do not manifest at night; however, some scholars state that this applies specifically to the days of Saturday, Tuesday, and Sunday. ॥ 18 ॥

On Sunday, Tuesday, during the astronomical alignments of Vyatipata or Sankranti when the sun enters a new zodiac sign, or on the Vaidhriti day... ॥ 20 ॥ on the sixth and eighth lunar days...

The defects inauspicious influences of the days belonging to Jupiter, Venus, and the Sun manifest at night. During the day, the defects of the Moon, Saturn, and Mars manifest. The defects of Wednesday are never present. ॥ 5 ॥
