The Five Sounds

Rālam? should be the third [state], known as Errant Means original: "bhrānta sādhana"; likely referring to a state of wandering or unstable efforts. The fourth is known as The Aged 65. The one to be counted as the fifth is known as The Body Piṇḍa: literally a "lump" or "body," referring here to a specific numerical sum or physical state. That which is called Deathly and the one named The Void original: "chidrākhyaṃ"; chidra refers to a hole, gap, or vulnerability are always to be known from the letters 66.

If a specific letter [required for the calculation] is not found in the name, according to the characteristics mentioned, then the letter of the Enemy In Sanskrit phonetics and astrology, certain letters are classified as "enemies" or "friends" to one another should be taken; this is what is stated in the Brahmayamala 67 The Brahmayamala is a major early Tantric text belonging to the Bhairava tradition, highly regarded for its complex ritual and divinatory systems.

For one who has many names, the latter designation the most commonly used current name should be used. However, if the Birth Name is known, then one should reflect upon that instead 68.

The letters Ṅa, Ña, and Ṇa nasal consonants that rarely begin words are not declared to be at the beginning of names. If they should occur, they are to be known as Ga, Ja, Ḍa, Śa, and La respectively 69. Having thus understood the vowels and consonants, one should apply their corresponding numbers. From one's own birth vowel, the second and [the one after] that second... 70

The age, the Zodiac sign beginning with Taurus, and the northern divisions are joined in a fivefold manner. The five arrangements starting from birth are each threefold 71.

By multiplying by two, by the Vedas The number 4, as there are four Vedas, or by three; or else by the Mountains The number 7, the Elephants The number 8, or the Tastes The number 6, the remainder [reveals] the arrangements of birth in their three respective positions 72. When the Body-Sum original: "piṇḍe" is situated in the House of Action The 10th house in an astrological chart, one should not perform the addition of five.
