Beginning with the Sun, the planets, along with the stars, move constantly toward the west due to the speed of the cosmic wind; however, they actually travel eastward along their own paths at a constant speed measured in miles (Yojanas). It is as if they are being overtaken by the swifter stars, or are racing against one another.
...Six Great Ages (Manvantaras), with their respective twilights, have passed. In the current Age of the Manu named Vaivasvata, twenty-seven Great Ages have elapsed. (21)
original: "त्रिघनो गतः" — "Tri-ghana" literally means 3 cubed (3x3x3), signifying 27. A Manvantara is a vast period of time overseen by a specific Manu or progenitor.
Of this current twenty-eighth Great Age, the Golden Age (Krta Yuga) has already passed. Therefore, one should calculate the time elapsed and sum the totals together. (22)
From the beginning, as the Creator was forming this world of moving and unmoving things, one hundred times four hundred and seventy-four divine years passed before the planetary motions began. (23)
2 432,000 The number 432,000 represents the length of the Kali Yuga in solar years. Because they move westward with extreme speed alongside the stars, the planets are constantly "beaten" or overtaken, yet they travel along their own paths at an equal pace. (25)
Therefore, their eastward motion is determined by their revolutions. Their daily motion appears different only because of the varying size of their orbits; because of this, they traverse the various zodiac signs. (26)
The fast-moving ones cover the signs in a short time, while the slow-moving ones take a long time. The number of times they complete a full circle of the sky by the end of an Age is called their "Revolutions" (Bhaganas). (27)
A sixtieth part of a minute is called a second (Vikala); a sixtieth part of a degree is a minute (Kala). Thirty degrees make a sign (Rashi), and twelve of those make a full revolution. (28)

For the conjunction of Mercury (Budha-shighra), the revolutions are 17,937,060 seventeen million, nine hundred thirty-seven thousand, and sixty. For Jupiter (Brihaspati), they are 364,220 three hundred sixty-four thousand, two hundred and twenty. (31)
