These qualities are listed in increasing order of importance and numerical weight. In Indian "Ashta-kuta" matching, these eight categories are assigned points totaling 36; a higher score indicates better compatibility for marriage.
The Vipra original: "Vipra"; the scholarly or priestly class, associated here with the Water signs. signs are Pisces, Scorpio, and Cancer. The OCR text lists "Usha" (possibly a scribal variant for Pisces/Meena), Scorpio, and Cancer. Following these are the Nripa (Kings/Warriors), the Vit (Merchants), and the Shudra (Laborers), assigned to the remaining signs in sequence. The Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) are the Warrior class; Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) are the Merchant class; and Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) are the Laborer class.
