The Three Pulses and Natural Enmities

Even if there is a difference in the Five Stars Panchatara: A method of calculating compatibility based on the distance between birth stars. or the Temperamental Groups original: "Gana," referring to the categorization of stars into Divine, Human, or Demonic temperaments., a marriage with a single Pulse Nadi: The biological or energetic constitution; couples usually require different Nadis (Aadi, Madhya, or Antya) to be compatible. is recorded as auspicious [in certain specific exceptions]. 24॥

If the couple shares the same Lunar Mansion Nakshatra: One of the 27 sectors of the sky the Moon passes through. and the same Quarter Pada: A sub-division of a Nakshatra; each mansion has four quarters., the marriage causes the loss of life. However, if they share the same Mansion but are in different Quarters, the marriage shall be auspicious. 25॥

Regarding the mansions Hasta and Chitra, friendship is formed through their various sequences; however, the same Pulse is generally not desired for a couple, and is considered only middling in quality. 26॥

If the Temperamental Groups are the same but the Mansions are different, or if the Mansions are different but the Groups are the same, and even if there is a difference in the Quarters, the "faults" of the Pulses and the Groups do not cause harm. 27॥

A shared First Pulse original: "Aadi Nadi," associated with the Vata or 'air' constitution. causes separation; a shared Middle Pulse original: "Madhya Nadi," associated with the Pitta or 'fire' constitution. brings the certainty of death; and a shared Final Pulse original: "Antya Nadi," associated with the Kapha or 'water' constitution. brings widowhood and extreme sorrow.
