On the Timing of Sacred Vows and Planetary Conjunctions

Under the fierce-rayed Sun original: "tigmadyu", for the moving portions and the steps of the divisions, for the seven days of the vow... Mercury [is] 5; Rudra [is] 21; the Sun [is] 12; the Directions [are] 10. With these measures, the lunar day Tithi: A lunar day in the Hindu calendar, calculated based on the angle between the Sun and the Moon. and the position in the zodiac cycle should be calculated. ॥ 21-22 ॥

The stars Nakshatra: One of the 27 or 28 sectors along the ecliptic, often called "Lunar Mansions," which the Moon passes through each month. of Hasta, Svati, those belonging to the Universal Gods the star Uttara Ashadha, Vishakha, Chitra, the star of the Moon Mrigashira, the star of Aditi Punarvasu, Pushya, and Ashwini [are auspicious]. When Venus or the Sun are in power, or on the day of Jupiter Thursday, the ritual bath for the vow [is performed], except on the day of the Sun Sunday. ॥ 23 ॥

One should not perform the vow to the Sun original: "Mārttaṇḍa" when the moon is in the star Punarvasu. One should serve the Brahmins the priestly class and no others; one should provide them with gifts of food. ॥ 24 ॥

On the seventh lunar day Saptami, in conjunction with the Moon, one should perform the rituals during the day. However, one should not eat at night, nor should one cause others to eat during the remaining hours. ॥ 25 ॥

With patience and speed, Mars, Jupiter, and the Sun... [when they are] situated in the sign of the Ram Aries. The Brahmins dwelling in the northern region... Mars and the Sun are joined. ॥ 26 ॥

The lords of the divisions, the Sun, the Moon, and Jupiter, are considered auspicious for the vow when they are strong. Even if others are weak, the vow is successful if the lord of the day is situated in the angle Kendra: The 1st, 4th, 7th, or 10th houses of a birth chart, considered the pillars of strength for any planet.. ॥ 27 ॥

When Jupiter is defeated, or in conjunction with an enemy, or in its sign of debilitation Capricorn... Mars...
