Combine the set of four values into a single sum and place that value in three separate positions. Multiply the first by two and divide by seven to find the remainder. One should record these numerical remainders in a vertical sequence, one below the other.

Following this, in the category named Dvāpara One of the four "Yugas" or cosmic ages, here used as a classification for certain numerical results, one should place the age-group number within the line of the fixed lunar date [tithi] number. Because that specific arrangement of the series is considered the standard measure, one should provide the number fourteen.
In this context, the word "series" [śreṇī] refers to the five vowels used in the ritual action [karmasvara]. In the vowels of establishment [ādhāna-svara], vowel group 'ai' there are nine. Together, these are called "fourteen"; this is the ultimate truth of the matter.
