Om. Prosperity! Salutations to the illustrious Ganesha. Salutations to the illustrious Purushottama. Ganesha is the remover of obstacles; Purushottama refers to the Supreme Being, often Vishnu. Om. Salutations to that Sun of Omniscience, who, with the rays of knowledge, rescues men submerged in the darkness of delusion.
The God of Gods, the Teacher of the World, was seated upon the peak of Mount Kailasha, surrounded by hosts of divine attendants Ganas and served by assemblies of sages. There, the Goddess Parvati, the beloved of her husband, bowed her head to her spouse and questioned the Supreme Lord.
The Goddess said: O Blessed One, God of Gods, whose crown is adorned by the moon, tell me the supreme knowledge to dispel ignorance, O Great Lord. Explain the science of poets, the vowels and letters, and the rising of the breath Swarodaya. Tell me of the zodiac signs and planets, their forms, and their relative strengths and weaknesses. Tell me of the different divisions of the zodiac, and through them, the good and evil, profit and loss, happiness and misery, and even life and death.
O Lord, speak of victory and defeat, of coming and going, of thoughts held in the mind or objects held in the fist. Explain the auspicious and inauspicious signs determined through the practice of bodily breath Shvasayoga, and by the division of the letters of a name. O Best of Gods, tell me of the classification of names by their lunar mansions Nakshatras and zodiac signs.
Explain, O Shankara, the science of life and the Wheel of Time Kalachakra through the various grid diagrams Shalaka-chakra, and according to the instructions of the Guru. Provide a definitive and doubt-free explanation of birth charts, the Five Wheels Panchachakra, the Eight-fold Wheels, and the Wheel of Longevity. O Great Lord, explain the Wheel of Death governed by the planets, the castes and lunar mansions, the remaining twenty-five stars, and the Throne of the Stars.
Tell me of the Wheel of Distance, the Pot-shaped Wheel Kalasha-chakra, the Star Wheel, the Fort Wheel Kota-chakra, and the Eagle Wheel Garuda-chakra. O Lord, speak of the many wonders of the Name-Letter-Number system, tell me the letters of the name? and the results of examining the hours Hora and the positions of the stars. O Lord of Gods, O Shankara, if you are pleased with me, reveal the rising of the names.
Thus addressed by Parvati, the God of Gods, the Great Lord Maheshvara, spoke these words with pleasure: "Listen, Parvati, to the final decision." The Blessed Lord [said:]
