In Pausha, on the thirteenth day, if it falls on a Saturday, Tuesday, or Friday original: "शौरी कुजोभृगुः" (śaurī kujo bhṛguḥ); referring to the presiding deities of those days: Saturn, Mars, and Venus, the clouds do not release [their rain], and there is a gathering of half-smoke original: "धूमार्धंवसंग्रह" (dhūmārdhava saṃgraha); likely a technical term for a specific type of atmospheric haze or a sign of poor crop yields. 35
In the month of Magha approx. January–February, on the second and third days of the [bright] fortnight, if Venus and Saturn are present, then there will be war original: "शास्त्रयुद्धं" (śāstrayuddhaṃ); literally "a battle of weapons," indicating a period of high conflict or military mobilization upon the earth. 36
Yet, if in that same conjunction, Jupiter original: "गुरुः" (guruḥ) is seen facing them, then [that war] shall not be; instead, happiness and well-being original: "सुखसौख्य" (sukhasaukhya) will be produced for the people. 37
In Magha, during the dark fortnight the waning moon phase, on the fifth or even the seventh day, if Venus, Saturn, and the Moon are located in three zodiac signs original: "राशित्रयं" (rāśitrayaṃ), 38
