Now, the Results of the Sixth House

For an individual who has the Sun original: "भास्करः" (bhāskaraḥ); literally 'The Light-Maker' in the sixth house—the house of enemies original: "रिपुभवने" (ripubhavane)—he becomes a "destroyer of his foes," one who strikes down his enemies. However, he also incurs expenses original: "व्ययम्" (vyayam) on account of the king referring to government taxes or legal penalties or for the sake of his friends.

Furthermore, during travels or journeys, or in the midst of disputes, he experiences great sorrow original: "निर्विषादं" (nirviṣādaṃ) 2. This means that while on the road, he may suffer distress due to being plundered by thieves. There is also a risk of misfortune or accidents original: "विप्रत्तिः" (viprattiḥ) involving his maternal family or caused by four-legged animals, such as horses. In this commentary, it is alternatively suggested that grief may arise from a fall from a vehicle or from the death of livestock within the maternal lineage. || 6 ||

Now, the Results of the Seventh House

If the Sun, the Lord of the Day original: "द्युनाथः" (dyunāthaḥ), is situated in the seventh house at the time of birth, that person suffers from a "burning" of their knowledge, distress regarding their wife original: "स्त्री क्लेशः" (strī kleśaḥ), bodily pain, and constant anxiety. He becomes mentally agitated when he cannot obtain the things he desires. (suffering in his own body)

॥ But incurs expenses from the king or from his friends. ॥

॥ In the maternal family, or from four-legged animals, or on a journey, ॥

॥ He experiences despair through disputes. ॥ 6 ॥

॥ When the Lord of the Day is in the seventh for a man, ॥

॥ There is distress of knowledge, bodily pain, and anxiety. ॥

॥ There is gain in family matters, in buying and selling, ॥

॥ Yet he is competitive and sometimes loses sleep. ॥ 7 ॥

॥ Though he acts for dharma, he is a vessel for hardship; ॥

॥ He may resort to foreign women, possessing little wealth or many wives. ॥

॥ These sorrows are caused by thieves or by the lord of the ascendant; ॥

॥ The Sun ordains another kind of suffering. ॥ 8 ॥

Regarding the accumulation of goods, in the matter of selling a purchased item, there is only a meager gain (ladhiḥ)a small profit. Additionally, due to rivalry or competition with an opponent, he sometimes finds no rest or sleep. || 7 ||

Now, the Results of the Eighth House

When the Sun is in the eighth house—here called the house of the mind—it makes a person behave in three ways: as a debauchee, a merchant, or as someone exceedingly shrewd. Therefore, it makes him a "vessel of hardship," meaning one who suffers.

Now, the Results of the Ninth House

When the Lord of the Day is in the house of fortune the ninth house, that man, though perhaps lacking controlled thoughts, attains high status through his penance or the excellence of his actions.
