original: "Sāra Saṃgraha"
Ho · 1 Om. Salutations to the holy Lord Ganesha. Ganesha is traditionally invoked at the beginning of Hindu texts to remove obstacles. Having bowed to the Lord of Obstacles [Ganesha], the Goddess Saraswati the goddess of knowledge and the arts, and the Guru, this Compendium of Essence is composed for the instruction of the young original: "bāla-bodhāya," meaning "for the awakening of children" or beginners.
In the year 1833 of the Vikrama Samvat era approx. 1776 CE and 1790 of the Shaka era approx. 1868 CE; note that these dates do not align traditionally, suggesting either a later annotation or a specific regional reckoning.
