When the Moon original: "Shashi" is positioned in the first house the Ascendant or "body" house; original: "mūrtti-sthita", the Lord of the Night original: "nishesha" causes constant sickness. One suffers from a buildup of phlegm the bodily humor known as "Kapha", emaciation, and disease, yet may attain great happiness if the Moon is strong and distant from the Sun's rays; such a person becomes specially honored among the people. In the second house the house of wealth; original: "vitta", the wise say the Moon brings a collection of comforts, jewels, and riches. The man lives in a beautiful home—this is especially true if the Moon is in its sign of exaltation or in Aquarius original: "ghata-anuga". (2)
If the Moon enters the house of prowess the third house; original: "parākrama-bhāva", it brings victory, various types of happiness, and gains through one's own courage. The Lord of the Stars original: "udupati" provides many comforts, friends, or relations. (3)
Comforts, good fortune, and pleasures are granted in the fourth house, yet the Moon may also cause a dullness of intellect or negligence in one's education if it is weak or in a "low" state original: "nīcha-buddhi"; referring to debilitation or poor dignity in the zodiac. (4)
If whoever has the Moon in the fifth house the house of children and intellect; original: "pañchama-bhāva", that man becomes victorious. Because of his excellent qualities, he is honored by the people in all his endeavors; he possesses great valor and is born with the virtue of good fortune.
