original: "bhadrā vicāraḥ." Bhadra, also known as Vishti, is a specific period during certain lunar days (tithis) considered inauspicious for starting new projects, marriages, or travel.
On the Dashami 10th lunar day and the Tritiya 3rd lunar day of the Dark Fortnight original: "kṛṣṇa pakṣa"; the waning phase of the moon, [Bhadra occurs] in the second half of the day. On the Saptami 7th lunar day and the Chaturdashi 14th lunar day, Vishti another name for Bhadra is remembered to be in the first half of the day.
On the Ekadashi 11th lunar day and the Chaturthi 4th lunar day of the Bright Fortnight original: "śukla pakṣa"; the waxing phase of the moon, [Bhadra occurs] in the second half of the day. On the Ashtami 8th lunar day and the Purnima Full Moon day, Vishti is remembered to be in the first half of the day. || 2 ||
The Yoginis are astrological forces or deities that move to different compass points depending on the lunar day. Practitioners avoid traveling in the direction where the Yogini currently resides.
On the Pratipada 1st lunar day and the Navami 9th lunar day, the Yogini resides in the eastern direction. In the South-East corner original: "agni-koṇe"; the direction of Agni, the fire god, she is remembered to be on the Tritiya 3rd lunar day and the Ekadashi 11th lunar day.
