Now, he describes the nature of the twelve zodiac signs. First, the Ram [Aries]:
Masculine, movable, fire, firm, four-legged, red, hot, bilious, loud-voiced, mountain-dweller, fierce, yellow, strong in the day, ruling the East, rising unevenly, low fertility and sexual union, rough, royal, balanced—this is the Ram. (2)
Now, he describes the nature of the Bull [Taurus]:
The Bull is fixed, female, earth, cold, dry, lord of the South, dweller of good lands, windy, strong at night, four-legged, white, loud-voiced, rising unevenly, moderate offspring and sexual union, auspicious, and of the merchant caste. (3)
...for the Ram [Aries], the Lion [Leo], and the Archer [Sagittarius], these two colors are mentioned. Why? Because it was stated so by Samarasimha An earlier 13th-century authority on Tajika astrology.. (2)
The Bull [Taurus] is Fixed, meaning it is of a stable nature; Female, a feminine sign; Earth, an earthy sign; Cold, of a chilly temperament; Dry, lacking luster; Lord of the South, ruling the southern direction; Dweller of Good Land, moving in pleasant territories; Windy, of a flatulent or airy constitution; Strong at Night, gaining power during the dark hours; Four-legged, having four feet; White, of a bright color; Loud-voiced, making a great sound; Rising Unevenly; Moderate Fertility, having a middling number of children and moderate sexual contact; Auspicious, being of a gentle nature; Merchant, belonging to the Vaishya caste. This sign also has beautiful limbs. The "firm-limbed" quality was mentioned only for the Ram, the Lion, and the Archer; by implication, the others are to be understood as having different bodily proportions. (3)
