The Mystery of Sex, or Sex Polarity

Mental communication through thought waves is caused by the activity of the mind’s masculine principles. Conversely, all reception or impression of the influences sent out is caused by the activity of the mind's feminine principles. Sending out a thought or suggestion is a masculine effort, while its reception is feminine. The resulting effect is essentially creative original: "procreative or reproductive"—a mental "offspring"—and is always manifested through the feminine principle. When one person dominates another through their will, it is similar to the tyranny exercised by the male in many forms of life, including humanity. The alluring, fascinating, coaxing, and attracting activities of Desire are decidedly feminine. They often ensnare original: "enmesh" the strongest Will, just as the strongest man often surrenders to the wishes of a charming woman. The Will operates by force, while Desire operates more subtly, but no less strongly.

An individual who demonstrates strong Will Power is exercising their masculine mentality. In contrast, a person who demonstrates Personal Magnetism—charming and fascinating those they meet—is exercising their feminine mentality. The Will forces and drives, whereas Desire, Emotion, Feeling, or "Magnetism" draws and attracts. The feminine is always the finer, more subtle force which ultimately overcomes the seemingly stronger power of the masculine mentality. However, both the masculine and feminine have their place, and the best results are achieved when both are strongly developed and actively used together.
