Vril, or Vital Magnetism

The author uses Vril to describe a universal life force or vital energy. Though the term was coined in 1871 by Edward Bulwer-Lytton in the novel The Coming Race, it is used here as a technical term for Vital Magnetism—the belief that living organisms possess a magnetic energy that can be mastered and directed.
