It will be noticed that the cases listed above are primarily diseases of the nervous system. However, because sleep and the absence of pain provide the body with the best conditions for the natural healing of inflammation, I have successfully resolved local inflammations by keeping patients in a trance until the healing was complete.

By "chronic treatment," I mean daily mesmerism performed without the intention of putting the patient into a trance, which is not necessary for this method.
