If you spot an error, have a suggestion, or just want to say hello — we’d love to hear from you.

We should fear letting these holy insights descend into this defiling world, lest they raise a cloud of obstruction between the Heavens and us—a sorrowful situation that has often been known to happen. Therefore, watch, pray, and never cease to be on your guard at all times.
But now it may be said: "This is a glorious and high privilege to receive from this Spirit, which brings both new and old things out of GOD’S Treasury; but the way to obtain this gift is very costly." For the rules prescribed require such self-denial original: "Abnegation" and a renunciation of a worldly life creaturely life: a life focused on physical needs, human impulses, and carnal senses rather than spiritual reality that it is very rare for anyone to be able to obtain and keep this precious and holy Anointing, through which we come to know the secret and deep things of GOD.
It is true that this jewel will not be found in common, earthly ground. As I have mentioned, there are several measures of this; for those who do not have some degree of this Spirit of Christ cannot belong to Him. But if there is enough of this light to check and reprove sin, and if that light is obeyed, then the Spirit will manifesty multiply for the sake of counsel and comfort. He will continue to reveal Himself more clearly as He finds the heart surrendering to be His unique place of residence, so that He may keep everything in a sanctified order, preparing for more extraordinary things to be communicated. For the Spirit rises higher and higher as the soul is emptied of its own self.
It may be asked: is there anyone in this age who can give any instance of being baptized with the Holy Spirit original: "Holy-Ghoſt" as in the days of the Apostles?
Yes, surely; the succession of this has been witnessed by someone or other in every age since, although not in the same manner as with "cloven tongues" and "rushing winds" original: "cloven Tongues, and ruſhing Winds"; a reference to the biblical account of Pentecost in Acts 2:2–3. That visible demonstration of the Spirit had its day and then passed away; now He operates in a more internal original: "Intrinical" manner and method in vessels vessels: a biblical metaphor for people or human souls as containers for God's spirit prepared for it. Therefore, what was once done visibly is now more invisible, inspiring and opening like a glowing flame in the heart. It lies there like a live, burning coal, which we recognize as the true baptism of the Holy Spirit which is felt in the present. Whenever it is in its highest penetrating power, it may manifest itself in miraculous deeds and works, as the present occasion may require. This has been known and experienced by some in this Age.
Furthermore, another evidence of the Spirit consists of internal movements original: "Internal Guſts" and breaths of divine air. By these, the soul is often mounted up on the wing of this Word, or Breath of the Spirit, and so ascends to the Heavens, entering into the celestial sphere original: "Celeſtial Globe" of eternity while its outward body remains in time. This is known to some.
For just as there was a physical, personal journey up to the visible Jerusalem to eat the feast of the Passover—which was a symbol Type: a biblical person, event, or thing believed to foreshadow a later reality of that great day
