Guided by this criterion, we have undertaken a modest portion of the work and publish hereafter that part of the legislation of the Catasto of 1427 A landmark fiscal reform in the Republic of Florence that required all citizens to provide a detailed declaration of their assets and liabilities for more equitable taxation. which, a few years later, was considered the most important; we also illustrate the execution of those laws with several examples drawn from contemporary documents.
