Théodore Sabachnikoff (1867–1927) was a Russian philanthropist and scholar who funded and organized the first high-quality publications of Leonardo's scientific notebooks.
Mathias-Duval (1844–1907) was a prominent French professor of anatomy and histology, lending scientific authority to this 19th-century publication.
