The reproduction of each page is preceded by a label divided into two parts: one indicating the sequence number under which the front or back of a sheet is published, the other being reserved for the classification of subjects unrelated to the Emblems symbolic images accompanied by a motto or moral lesson and Rebuses puzzles where pictures and symbols represent words or syllables.
