The title page is framed by an intricate woodcut border by Emil Rudolf Weiß, a prominent book designer of the Jugendstil the German branch of Art Nouveau movement. The four corners contain symbolic representations of the four classical elements: the Sun for Fire, an Eagle for Air, Fish for Water, and a basket of fruit for Earth.
