Chapter 3

"Is it really true that God said, 'You shall not eat from every tree of the garden'?"
2 And the woman said to the serpent, "From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;
3 But from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God said, 'You shall not
eat from it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.'"
4 And the serpent said to the woman, "You shall not surely die.
5 For God knows that in the day you eat from it,
your eyes will be opened, and you will be like gods, knowing good and evil."
6 And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight
to the eyes, and the tree was desirable to make one wise; so she took of its fruit
and ate, and she gave some also to her husband with her, and he ate.
7 And the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked;
and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.

Therefore a man shall leave the bed-chamber original: lectulum — the Aramaic specifies the marriage bed/house of his father & of his mother: and shall cling to his wife: and they shall be in one flesh. And they were both naked: Adam & his wife: & they were not ashamed. Chapter 3.
Aramaic interpretation. And the serpent was wiser than all the beasts of the field which the Lord God had made: & he said to the woman: Is it certain that God said: you shall not eat from every tree of the garden? And the woman said to the serpent: From the fruit of the trees of the garden we eat: but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of paradise God said: you shall not eat from it: nor shall you approach it: lest perhaps you die.
