[Blessed are you when they revile you and persecute you and] say all kinds of evil against you falsely for my sake. 12 * Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven; for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. 13 * You are the salt of the earth; if the salt loses its flavor, with what shall it be seasoned? It is thereafter good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 * You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 * Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket basket: original "գրուանաւ" (gruanaw), a dry measure or bushel-sized container, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 * Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. b d 17 * Do not think that I came to abolish the law or the prophets. I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. 18 * For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one iota iota: original "յովտ" (yovt), the smallest letter of the alphabet, which is a single mark mark: original "նշանախեց" (nshanaxets), a tiny stroke or tittle in writing, shall pass from the law and the prophets until all is accomplished. 19 * Whoever shall break one of these least commandments and teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 * But I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven. 21 * You have heard that it was said to those of old, "You shall not murder," and whoever murders shall be liable to judgment. 22 * But I say to you, that everyone who is angry with his brother without cause shall be liable to judgment. And whoever says to his brother "Fool" Fool: original "յիմար" (yimar), a term of contempt shall be liable to the council. And whoever says to his brother "Moros" Moros: original "մորոս" (moros), a Greek loanword meaning stupid or godless shall be liable to the fire of Gehenna original: "գեհեն" (gehen), a valley near Jerusalem used as a metaphor for a place of fiery punishment. 23 * Therefore if you bring your offering offering: original "պատարագ" (patarag), a gift or sacrifice brought to the altar to the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 * leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering.
