IV. [the Lord] your [God]. Jesus said to him: "Again it is written, you shall not put the Lord 7
18 [ΙΗ] your God to the test." Again, the devil takes him to an 8

and their glory. And he said to him: "All these things I will 9
give to you, if you will fall down and worship me." Then Jesus says to him: "Begone, 10
Satan! For it is written: You shall worship the Lord your God,
and him only shall you serve." Jesus is quoting Deuteronomy 6:13, reaffirming monotheistic devotion. Then the devil leaves him; and 11
behold, angels came and were ministering to him.
19 [ΙΘ] Now when he heard that John had been delivered up This refers to the arrest of John the Baptist by Herod Antipas., he withdrew into 12
* Second hand: Gali- [correcting "Galilee"] Galilee*. And leaving Nazareth*, he came and dwelt in 13
* First hand: Nazara. Capernaum by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and
Naphtali. This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, 14
saying: "Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way of the sea, 15

From then on Jesus began to preach and to say: "Repent; 17

son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with
Zebedee their father, mending their nets;
and he called them. And immediately leaving the boat and 22
their father, they followed him.
21 [ΚΑ] And he went about all Galilee* teaching in 23
* Second hand: Gali- [correcting "Galilee"] their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and
22 [ΚΒ] healing every disease and every infirmity among the people. And 24
his fame went out into all Syria; and they brought to him [all who were sick...]
