"It was said to the ancients, 'You shall not swear falsely, but you shall perform to the Lord
34 your oaths.' But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by
35 heaven, for it is the throne of God; nor by the earth, for it is the footstool
of His feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the
36 Great King. Nor shall you swear by your head, for you are not
37 able to make one hair white or black. But let your word be
'Yes, yes' and 'No, no'; for whatever is more than these comes from the evil one original: ἐκ τοῦ πονηροῦ; this can be translated as "from evil" or "from the evil one.".
