William Rothenstein (1872–1945) was a distinguished English painter, printmaker, and writer. He was a central figure in the London art world and a close friend of Tagore. Rothenstein played a pivotal role in bringing Tagore’s work to the attention of Western intellectuals and was instrumental in the India Society's publication of this book.
